Mustard Business Coaches
If you’re looking for a business coach, you’ll more than likely be aiming to do one of these main things:
- Grow your business through more demand, sales and revenue
- Create a better, more efficient and profitable business structure
- Plug gaps or weaknesses with external advice
- Remove yourself from day to day operations
- Get experienced, expert guidance
- A fresh outlook
- Accountability
That’s exactly what Mustard Advisers help clients achieve. Our motto is that we help business owners get more time, more money and have more fun.
Mustard Advisers are business coaches with a difference. We combine coaching skills with mentoring skills, training skills, non-executive director skills, all wrapped up under trusted advisers’ skills. That’s why we call ourselves Advisers, but really you could also think of us as business coaches.
Whether you want to grow your business, license/franchise, exit your business, or simply have more fun running your business, we can help.
What do business coaches do?
The coaching process is different for every coach. In general the coaching process includes:
- Getting to know the client as a person, including behavioural profiling
- Getting to know the business inside out – KPIs, USPs, value, financials, marketing, sales, HR, and every other aspect of the business
- Establishing goals and visions
- Identifying areas of most urgent importance
- Working closely with the client delivering practical knowledge transfer (e.g. improving sales processes)
- Accountability and support during the knowledge transfer, ensuring the client is supported through the process implementation
- General accountability and support through meetings, calls and email
- Sharing helpful and supportive resources
- Working as a personal development coach on mindset and breaking down mental barriers to success
- Reviewing and continuous improvement
- Offering a perspective on progress
- Support through business change through advice, accountability and support – e.g. exit, licensing, restructure
- Profiling of team and working on team structure
Why is business coaching important?
Without business coaching growth can take many more years.
Being a business owner can be a lonely position to be in, and while an owner’s team and support network may have good intentions, often their advice is not relevant or tailored.
This leads to business owners solving their own problems or seeking input from their peers. This leads to a trial-and-error approach, and often the business owner who undoubtedly has strengths will lean into their strengths for growth – whether that’s sales, structure, unique market position.
Coaching quickly fills those gaps and improves those weaknesses, often turning them into strengths. There have been countless times where clear advice and coaching has led to big gains for Mustard clients, whether that’s through closer financial management, a better team structure, improved internal communications and so on.
Coaching is an investment, but if you are serious about growing, licensing/franchising, exiting or just having more fun in your business, coaching is essential.
Areas we cover
Our head office is based just outside Cardiff, and we have clients in Bristol, London, Swansea and the rest of the UK. Location is not a problem.
Are business coaches worth it?
Any sensible business owner would ask themselves this question. We know we are, as our case studies and testimonials back this up. We’ve worked with companies who grew and exited such as DataKom, TWL, companies who took on external investment like Mazuma – Sophie Hughes, Mazuma – Lucy Cohen and companies who restructured management teams through MBO like Customised Sheet Metal, or others who simply grew an even better business such as Illustrate Digital and Team Metalogic.
How much is a business coach?
Business coaching varies from coach to coach. The Mustard Advisers program ranges from a part-time to a full-time salary in terms of investment. In return you will have a “big hitter” on your team, that will transform your business. As you’ve already seen from our case studies and testimonials, this is then realised many times over through exceptional business growth. Not only growth, but also the quality of life that our current and previous clients are able to access.
Do I need a business coach?
Not everyone needs a business coach, though many businesses would benefit. With an honest and open mind, only you as the business owner can answer that. But to try and help, here is some guidance of who does and doesn’t need coaching in our experience:
Those that would benefit from business coaching: coachable, ambitious, willing to put the work in, driven, has the team in place to delegate to, has already developed a strong concept of business, has areas that they’d like to improve, are ready to listen to and implement external help.
Those that would not benefit from business coaching: feel they already know everything, want someone external to do the work, does not have a commercially viable business, unwilling to improve areas of weakness, not coachable.
